Frequently asked questions

Q:

Is permission needed to use your preview images in layouts and comps?

A:

No, so long as they are not reproduced in the public domain without permission.

Q:

Is it okay to distribute reproductions of your previews to various people within our organisation, or our client’s organisation for references purposes?

A:

Yes. However, you might first want to check with us that the image is available for the purpose you are considering.

Q:

Do you offer any exclusivity, or can the same image be used by anyone?

A:

When you use one our images you automatically get a one year industry exclusive for that image in your country. The image may be used in other ways in your country during that year, but not by a client in the same industry. Additional exclusivity, even total exclusivity, can often be negotiated.

Q:

Is it okay to use your images on the web?

A:

Yes, provided web rights are available and you pay the appropriate fee.

Q:

What if your preview image is of sufficient quality for my purpose, is there still a charge to use it?

A:

Yes. The size of the image file is irrelevant to the copyright. Any use of an image in the public domain must first be negotiated.

Q:

Are your photographers able to undertake special assignments?

A:

Yes.

Q:

Do you have other material besides the categories listed?

A:

Yes. If we can’t supply what you need we can usually refer you to other high quality sources.

Q:

Are your master files suitable for large digital prints?

A:

Yes.

Q:

Are your high res scans supplied in RGB or CMYK mode?

A:

Either, but normally CMYK, because most of our clients use them in high quality print projects. If you plan to use an image for a display transparency or a TVC you can request our RGB version of the scan.

Q:

Do you supply your high res master files already sharpened?

A:

Normally no, because sharpening is best left until after the file has been resized to fit your layout. Also you may want to merge our images with other images. The sharpening procedure is well known to most Photoshop operators, but if you prefer we can do it for you if you know the final repro size.

Q:

Do you have other images that are not shown on this website?

A:

Yes, and we will continue to add them to our website as the files are made ready for reproduction. Please contact us if you can't see what you're looking for on our site
